“Research Misconduct and Plagiarism” a publication by Debra M. Parrish, has been published by the Journal of College and University Law
The Council of Science Editors recently released its white paper on Promoting Integrity in Scientific Journal Publications. Ms. Parrish’s contributions to the white paper were made using her extensive library of misconduct cases and articles. This paper will serve as a resource for editors, publishers, authors and institutions when they encounter an allegation of misconduct. The white paper will be a living document that we hope will enrich the conversation about the role editors and publishers can play in addressing such allegations.
The Journal of College and University Law will publish in its Winter edition an update of Ms. Parrish’s 1994 seminal article on Plagiarism and Research Misconduct. The update, like the seminal article, analyzes the entire body of research misconduct cases stemming from an allegation of plagiarism and assessed by the US federal agencies, the Office of Research Integrity, and the National Science Foundation. The article also explores the evolving roles of those agencies and professional associations, discusses litigation involving plagiarism allegations, and notes international developments in plagiarism cases. This article will be a critical resource for institutions and individuals involved in such cases. |
